Hottest UK Slots
Ever since Big Time Gaming came up with their patented 'Megaways' system and changed the way that we think about UK slots and how they work, they've been pushing that system harder and harder to see what it's capable of. With White Rabbit, released in 2017, it reached new levels. This is a complex, challenging, and massively rewarding UK slots game which is packed with so many features they're almost impossible to count. If you can cope with it, then with its 97.72% RTP it might be one of the most generous UK slots you play this year.
From the moment White Rabbit loads, you'll recognize where it got its inspiration from. This is unmistakably the world of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,' as dreamed up over a century ago by Lewis Carroll and subsequently represented several times in movies, most notably in a film starring Johnny Depp. The landscape that Carroll created is the ultimate fantasy land, full of strange and magical creatures. Even when Carroll glanced 'through the looking glass,' he probably never imagined that his creation would inspire such an unusual slot game, but here we are.
Any slot which used such a rich source text as a theme would have to be beautiful to do it justice, and so we're happy to report that White Rabbit is. In some of Big Time Gaming's other 'Megaways' UK slots, the visuals have been sacrificed to allow for the functionality. That isn't the case here. The graphics and the animations are gorgeous, and will truly take you away into the same land that Alice once visited. 'Alice in Wonderland' was a big idea, and this is a very, very big slot game. In terms of features, it might be one of the biggest slots UK players have ever seen.
Nominally, there are five rows and five reels in the slot. The number of rows can change, though, as can the number of symbols on them, as well as the size of those symbols. If you 'only' have 5x5 on screen, you'll have a mere 16,807 paylines to look out for. With a fully extended set of 5x7, that goes up to 248,832.
The 'main' set of symbols are all from the world of the novel; there are ornaments in red, green, and blue, a teapot, some teacups, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Mad Hatter, and the Gryphon. If the symbols are too 'small' to fill the row they're on (usually they're at least two rows high, but can be larger), then low-value playing card symbols will appear to occupy the space.
The slot wouldn't be complete without an appearance from Alice, and so she's here as the wild symbol. She can appear on any reel other than the first one, and will substitute for every symbol apart from the other special symbols. Those include a scatter in the form of the white rabbit, a cupcake, and several feature-specific 'feature drop' symbols. If this all sounds complicated, it's because it is - and it's going to become more so as we look at the bonus features!
Game Features
There are two main bonus features to be had in White Rabbit, one of which is triggered by scatter symbols, and the other which occurs at random. We’ll deal with the random one first, which is Caterpillar Wilds. On any spin, a friendly caterpillar will slither across your reels, depositing additional wild symbols as he goes. He can leave behind as many as four, all of which are better than the wilds you receive in the base game, because they come with either an x2 or x3 multiplier to be applied to any winnings they create for you.
The major bonus feature is a complex and involved Free Spins round. Three scatter symbols on the middle three reels will trigger the feature, and bring you fifteen spins. You may find that the reels automatically expand to seven rows when the feature starts, but even if they don't, you can make that happen by landing cupcake symbols. The cupcake splits into two symbols after it lands, therefore adding another row as it does so. Because of this, the number of rows might increase up to twelve. Any row expanding to the point where it has twelve symbols will become a Queen’s Reel, and will be stacked high with extra wilds and Queen of Heart symbols, thus becoming extremely valuable in the process.
If you’re struggling to trigger free spins, you can buy the round at any time for 100x your stake. That’s a high price, but it can be reduced by the appearance of Feature Drop symbols, which knock that price down each time they appear. If the price drops to nil, the feature will automatically begin.
Some of our UK Slot Games players will simply find this slot to be too noisy and too tricky to follow, and that's fine. We appreciate that it isn't for everybody. If you love the idea of something different and challenging, though, you won't find many UK slots which offer this many quirks and features with such a high RTP. Once you've caught on to how the slot works, it's a really fun one to play.
White Rabbit Developer - Big Time Gaming
You can't call yourself 'Big Time Gaming' unless you make games that feel Big Time, and the slots UK players have seen from this developer in recent years are exactly that. They're really pushing against tradition and convention, always looking to add something new to the experience each time they release new UK slots. They may not please everybody all the time, but at least you can never call them boring.
Their most significant contribution to the modern era of slot games is undoubtedly the creation of their 'Megaways' system, which allows players tens of thousands of ways to win in slots which make use of it. Chilli Heat slot game and Bonanza UK slot were early examples of them putting the system into practice, but they've since incorporated into their licensed version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and of course again here in White Rabbit.
With cutting-edge design skills and stunning graphical abilities, the future of UK slots looks bright with companies like Big Time Gaming pushing it forward.
