Genie Jackpots Megaways UK Slot
This fantasy-themed online slot uses Big Time Gaming's Megaways system but is actually the work of Blueprint Gaming. The inspiration behind the slot is Arabian and Eastern culture, and the idea of a magical genie in a lamp. There are six reels and changeable numbers of rows, over fifteen thousand potential paylines, and RTP at 96.52%. Four bonus features and four reel modifiers ensure play has plenty of variety. This UK slot is best played here at UK Slot Games, where we also have more than 500 other great online slots including Great Rhino, Starburst, Rainbow Riches and Bonanza.

Usually, when we're talking about a slot that uses the Megaways structure, we're reviewing a release by Big Time Gaming. The innovative way of creating an online slot has caught the attention of players and other developers alike, making Big Time the envy of the online slot world. Instead of being bitter about it, Blueprint worked out a deal with Big Time to use it in their slots, and so here we are with Genie Jackpots Megaways.
The Megaways system is based on having six reels, and varying numbers of rows. Symbols come in different sizes, and so there may be two large ones on one row, and five small ones on the next. This arrangement will change on the next spin, meaning there’s dramatic variance in the playing area. That’s how this slot is capable of offering so many potential winning lines; there are more than fifteen thousand possible ways to win here!
Instead of using Megaways to create something new, Blueprint has gone to their back catalog and revisited a slot they've had success with in the past. Genie Jackpots Megaways was released in 2018, but the original Genie Jackpots came out three years earlier. The developer liked it enough to give it a fresh coat of Megaways paint, and the results are pleasing.
As we noted above, the setting for this slot is an Arabian desert at nighttime. You’re welcomed into the slot’s world by the booming voice of the genie, who will also speak to you when bonus features occur. There isn’t a lot going on with the graphical presentation; the background is cloudy and dark, the reels are a sort of sandy brown color, and other than the presence of the genie’s lamp to the right of the reels there isn’t much in the way of character. We’re not saying that it’s bad looking - because it certainly isn’t - but we’ve come to expect a little more than this from Blueprint based on their past efforts.
The tried-and-trusted playing card symbols 9 through to A are present in the slot, representing the symbols of least worth. More valuable than them are two swords, a gold-laden treasure chest, a turban, and the Genie Jackpots logo which is featured as the base game’s most valuable symbol.
Above the basic symbols, things become a little more complicated. There are three variations on wild symbols (as you’ll see in the bonus features section), and a further bonus symbol. Only the bonus can’t be replaced by the wilds, which will otherwise substitute for everything else to create wins.
Game Bonus Features
We’ve never encountered a Blueprint Gaming slot that wasn’t full of bonus features, and we haven’t started doing so now. Genie Jackpots is full to the brim with reel modifiers and fun bonuses.
There are four potential reel modifiers, all of which are activated by the genie. Keep an eye on him emerging from his lamp - although he usually loudly announces his presence if you play with the sound on!
If the genie grants you Wild Megaways, then there are extra ‘Wild Megaways’ symbols on the reels for your next spin, and every possible way to win in the slot will be activated. You should hopefully win at least something!
The genie may instead grant you Genie Wilds, where ‘Genie Wild’ symbols are stacked on the reels and may turn one of them completely wild. If that wild reel brings you any winnings, the value of those winnings is multiplied by five.
The Genie Win Spin throws up extra wild symbols onto the reel, along with some mystery symbols which act as guarantors of a win on your next spin.
When the genie feels like being particularly helpful, he may invoke Bonus Megaways and give you further bonus symbols on the reels. That should help you find your way into one of the ‘regular’ bonus features.
There are four of those ‘regular’ bonus features, all of which are different takes on Free Spins. Land three or more bonus symbols anywhere on the reels to trigger the feature. The minimum of three is good for granting you ten free spins. A fourth one will up that total to twelve. Five bonuses ups that again to fifteen. Find all six bonus symbols on one lucky spin, and you'll get twenty free spins. You'll get a choice of lamps to pick from when the round starts, and that selection governs which of the free spins rounds you'll be playing.
You might get Mystery Wishes, in which there are mystery symbols on the reels. When they’re involved on one of the reels after a spin, they’ll become matching symbols.
You may instead get the Unlimited Multiplier feature, which may be the best of them. After every spin, the multiplier applied to your next win goes up by x1. Finding two of the magic lamp symbols which appear during this round give you five more free spins, extending the round and pushing the multiplier higher.
There’s a clue in the name of Locking Wilds. Any wilds you find during this feature will freeze in place for the whole duration of your free spins. Fill up an entire reel with them, and you’ll get five more free spins. See if you can turn every symbol wild - and imagine what that might pay you!
The final option is Genie Streak. Each time you spin and win during this round, your winning line stays in place. The genie then spins the wheels again for you and locks any additional matching symbols in place. This will continue until you land a matching symbol in every space (thus triggering the slot's maximum jackpot), or there are no more winning symbols to be found, at which point your wins will be tallied.
You do have the option to buy access to the bonus features whenever you wish, but at a price of 100x your stake, it's a big risk as to whether it's worth it. Only you can decide!
Genie Jackpots Megaways Developer - Blueprint Gaming
German-owned British developer Blueprint Gaming goes heavy on bonus features every time, and it always results in a genuinely exciting online slot. They're usually outstanding when it comes to graphics, too - although that's best displayed in their range of TV and movie tie-in slots like ‘Austin Powers, ‘The Goonies' and ‘Ted.'The acquisition of the software behind Megaways from Big Time Gaming is still a recent one for Blueprint, and so they're probably still determining how to get the best out of it. In this slot, they've demonstrated that they can use it on one of their existing properties without having to sacrifice any of their immersive bonus features to do it. If they can bring that same approach to their licensed products, then they might be about to start a whole bold new era in the UK slot game scene.
